Longevity of Running Shoes

Q. How long will my new Asics running shoes last for? I am hoping at least a couple of years?

Well, you mention a specific brand there, and they will have their own official stats. However, if you’re not running too far, they will indeed last you a couple of years. However, it all depends on the mileage you put in. As a rule of thumb I have heard 600 miles quoted as a reasonable distance to cover in a pair of road running shoes. So if you are running 30 miles per week, they will last you 20 weeks or so.

Personally I push might to about 750-800 miles. I have never had any nagging injuries so assume this is fine. I guess if you have more sensitive joints, or a prone to injury, you may want to renew more regularly.

Finally I would add to this its worth investing in a good pair of shoes if you are thinking about how often to replace them etc. £65-90 gets you a good pair and it is not worth skimping on them.
