Running In Boots

Q. I’m training in preparation for joining the army. Do you think running over steep terrain in My Doc Martins would be ok?

Sounds like you have a life of physical fitness ahead of you. The short answer is yes, although I’m not sure how comfortable they will be. The will protect your ankles and offer some support, but I would imagine they are not particularly well padded.

Inov-8 not only produce some of the best running shoes around primarily for off road and seriously rough terrain, but they also produce some the come up over the ankle for support. Inov-8 Roclites might be a good choice. Essentially you are getting into walking boots, but you might find greater flexibility in shoes from Inov-8.

Feel free to come back in a years time and offer us some fitness advice. I readers would love to read how the Army do it!
